The Best Treasury Management Software for Businesses in 2026

Pac O'Shea

28 July 2026

A practical guide to what treasury management software actually does, how to evaluate it, and which platforms are worth shortlisting in 2026.

TL;DR

  • Treasury management software gives finance teams one view of cash across banks and entities, automates the manual work of moving and reconciling money, and, increasingly, puts idle cash to work.
  • The best platform for you depends on company size, how many entities and currencies you run, and whether you need enterprise risk and hedging tools or a lighter, automation-first setup.
  • For UK and European startups and scale-ups, the shortlist worth evaluating includes Round, Trovata, Nomentia, Embat, Kyriba, TreasurySpring, HighRadius and Cobase.
  • Enterprise-grade platforms (Kyriba, HighRadius, Nomentia, Cobase) suit large, multi-bank organisations with dedicated treasury staff. Lighter, automation-first platforms (Round, Trovata, Embat) suit founders and finance teams who want visibility and yield without a treasury department.
  • FCA regulation, FSCS-eligible protection structures and UK bank connectivity are all worth checking before you commit, since not every platform on this list is UK-regulated in the same way.

Pac O'Shea is Co-Founder and CEO of Round, the UK finance platform that automates treasury, accounts payable, payroll and multi-entity cash management. He works with finance teams putting idle cash to work without adding operational overhead.

What treasury management software actually does

"Treasury management software" covers a broad category, so it helps to break it into the jobs finance teams actually need done:

  • Cash visibility. Pulling balances from every bank account, entity and currency into one live dashboard, instead of logging into five different banking portals.
  • Forecasting. Projecting short and long-term cash positions using historical data, ERP inputs and payment schedules.
  • Automation. Moving money between accounts, funding payroll and bills just in time, and sweeping surplus cash on rules you set once.
  • Yield. Putting idle operating cash to work, typically via money market funds or interest-bearing accounts, rather than letting it sit at close to nothing in a current account.
  • Risk and control. FX exposure management, counterparty diversification, approval workflows and audit trails.
  • Reporting. Board-ready cash reporting, covenant tracking and, for larger groups, intercompany netting and consolidation.

Not every platform does all of this equally well. Enterprise treasury management systems (TMS) built for large corporates tend to be strongest on risk, hedging and multi-bank connectivity at scale. Newer, automation-first platforms tend to be strongest on ease of setup, yield on idle cash and day-to-day workflow automation for leaner finance teams.

How to evaluate treasury management software

Before you shortlist vendors, get clear on a few things:

  1. How many entities, banks and currencies do you actually run today, and in 12 months? A single-entity, single-currency startup has very different needs from a group CFO consolidating five subsidiaries.
  2. Do you need a dedicated treasurer, or does this need to run without one? Enterprise TMS platforms are usually built assuming a treasury function exists to operate them. Startup-focused platforms are built to run with automation instead of headcount.
  3. What's your idle cash position, and does the platform put it to work? If you're holding meaningful operating cash in a low- or no-interest current account, yield-generating treasury tools can be one of the highest-ROI purchases a finance team makes. Round's guide to automating a startup treasury playbook covers this in more depth.
  4. How does the platform handle regulation and safeguarding? In the UK, check whether the provider (or the partners it works with) is FCA-authorised, how client money is safeguarded, and what FSCS-eligible protection structure applies, since it varies by provider and by product.
  5. Does it integrate with your existing stack? Xero, NetSuite, Sage and your existing banks all matter more than a long feature list you'll never use.
  6. Is it a treasury tool, an AP tool, or both? Some platforms in this space have expanded from treasury into accounts payable and payroll, or vice versa. If you want one system rather than three, check the roadmap, not just today's feature set.

The best treasury management software in 2026

This list is not ranked. Each platform suits a different kind of finance team, and we've tried to be specific about who each one is genuinely best for.

Round

What it is: Round is a UK-regulated, AI-powered treasury and finance automation platform built for startups and scale-ups. It combines multi-currency accounts, automated sweeps into money market funds for yield on idle cash, and an automation layer (Round calls these AI Operators) that handles routine treasury workflows on rules you set once. Round has expanded from treasury into accounts payable, payroll, FX and multi-entity cash visibility.

Best for: UK and European startups and scale-ups who want treasury automation and yield on idle cash without hiring a dedicated treasurer, and who want treasury, AP and payroll on one platform rather than three.

Notable strengths: Round Financial Limited is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. The platform is ISO 27001 certified and was ranked #1 Treasury Software by Finance Teams on G2 (Winter 2026). Setup is designed to be self-serve, with a free Launch tier and paid Growth and Enterprise tiers as needs scale (see pricing).

Trovata

What it is: A cloud-based cash and liquidity management platform that normalises bank data across accounts and uses AI to support cash forecasting, reconciliation and payment workflows.

Best for: Mid-to-large enterprises with complex, multi-bank cash positions and an existing treasury or FP&A function that wants better visibility and forecasting rather than a fully automated, hands-off setup.

Notable strengths: Strong bank-agnostic connectivity and forecasting tooling, used by large corporates managing cash across many accounts and banking relationships.

Nomentia

What it is: A European cloud treasury and cash management suite covering bank connectivity, centralised payments, liquidity forecasting, risk controls and intercompany netting.

Best for: Mid-to-large European enterprises, particularly those with operations across multiple countries, that need centralised payment controls and fraud prevention alongside forecasting.

Notable strengths: Deep European presence, including a London office, and treasury and finance specialists who work across UK, DACH and Nordic regulatory environments.

Embat

What it is: A European treasury management platform, founded by former JP Morgan bankers, that centralises collections, payments and treasury management with native connectivity to a large number of banks and direct ERP integrations.

Best for: Medium and large European businesses, with a presence in Spain, the UK and Germany, that want real-time global cash, liquidity and debt visibility on one platform.

Notable strengths: Fast implementation relative to legacy enterprise TMS platforms, and broad ERP integration (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, Microsoft Dynamics).

Kyriba

What it is: An established enterprise liquidity performance platform covering treasury management, cash forecasting, payments and financial risk management (FX, interest rate, debt and investment exposure).

Best for: Large enterprises and multinational groups with a dedicated treasury function that needs deep risk management and hedging capability, not just cash visibility.

Notable strengths: One of the longest-established names in enterprise treasury technology, with connectivity to thousands of banks and ERPs and dedicated tooling for treasurers managing market risk.

TreasurySpring

What it is: A digital platform connecting institutions with fixed-term cash investment products (Fixed-Term Funds), designed to help treasuries diversify counterparty risk and put excess cash to work across a range of terms.

Best for: Corporates, financial institutions and funds with significant excess cash who want to diversify where that cash sits, rather than concentrating it with a single bank or provider.

Notable strengths: Single onboarding for access to a range of cash investment products, useful for treasuries actively managing counterparty diversification as a discipline in its own right.

HighRadius

What it is: An AI-powered autonomous finance platform covering order-to-cash, accounts payable, treasury and financial close, aimed at large enterprise finance functions.

Best for: Large enterprises with high transaction volumes who want to automate across the full finance function, not just treasury, and who have the scale to justify an enterprise implementation.

Notable strengths: Broad platform covering collections, cash application, AP and treasury together, with outcome-based elements to its commercial model.

Cobase

What it is: A single point of access to multiple banks for payments, cash and treasury management, with optional treasury modules for in-house banking, cash pooling, forecasting and FX.

Best for: Corporates and private markets firms managing relationships across many banks (Cobase connects to a large network of partner banks) who want a single interface rather than logging into each bank separately.

Notable strengths: Strong multi-bank connectivity and modular treasury add-ons, with an Amsterdam base and established European client footprint.

Where Round fits

If you're a UK or European startup or scale-up trying to get more out of idle cash, cut the manual work out of treasury, and eventually bring AP and payroll onto the same platform, Round is built for exactly that. Frequently Asked Questions

It's software that gives finance teams a single view of cash across banks and entities, and typically automates cash forecasting, payment execution, and putting idle cash to work, rather than managing all of this manually across multiple banking portals and spreadsheets.

Both, but the right tool differs. Large corporates typically need enterprise TMS platforms with deep risk and hedging tools. Startups and scale-ups are increasingly better served by lighter, automation-first platforms that give visibility and yield without requiring a dedicated treasury hire.

A business bank account holds your money. Treasury management software sits across your bank accounts (whether one bank or several) to give you visibility, automation and, often, access to yield-generating products like money market funds that a standard current account doesn't offer.

It depends on what the platform actually does. If it holds or moves client money, invests it, or provides payment services, the entity doing that typically needs to be FCA-authorised (or working through a regulated partner). Always check the specific regulatory status of the entity you'd be contracting with, not just the brand name on the product.

For smaller, single or few-entity businesses, automation-first platforms can handle most of what a treasurer would otherwise do manually: sweeping cash, monitoring balances, funding payroll and bills, and optimising yield. Larger, multi-entity groups with complex risk exposure typically still need a treasury function, supported by software rather than replaced by it.

Most platforms in this category generate yield by sweeping cash into interest-bearing accounts or money market funds managed by regulated asset managers, rather than lending it out themselves. Always check where your cash actually sits and how it's protected.

Bank and ERP integrations you actually use, the regulatory status of the provider, how quickly you can get set up, and whether the platform covers just treasury or also AP, payroll and multi-entity reporting if you're likely to need those later.
